French furniture giant to retail in India
on November 19th, 2007 at 9:47 amFrance based-Gautier, the 160 million euros furniture and home solutions brand, is set to walk the Indian retail space.
“The burgeoning lifestyle aspirations of the new-age Indian consumers coupled with the retail industry boom sweeping through the country, has prompted Gautier to seriously look at establishing its presence in the Indian market,” Chairman and Managing Director M Dominique Soulard said in an official release.
With plans to set up exclusive large-format stores, sized 20,000–40,000 square feet, throughout the country, Gautier is in the process of forging an alliance. It is already in talks with some leading retail companies in India. The pilot store is expected to be launched by year-end.
As of now, the company has only appointed a PR agency in India and do not have any representative in the country. Reply to Indiaretailing’s email query on detailed plans is awaited from officials in France.
For the first time, the entire range of authentic Gautier products, which are designed and manufactured by the brand in France, will be available to the Indian consumer. The brand’s comprehensive range of Junior and Nursery furniture solutions for children and infants will be an attraction.
Started in 1958, Gautier is one of the best-known furniture brands in the world. With the company enjoying an increasingly strong global equity, the share of exports has increased to more than 30 per cent of the annual turnover of the company.
