Carrefour, operating stores in Cyprus through the Greek-owned Marinopoulos Group, has opened a Carrefour express store in Nicosia. According to the company, the plan is to expand the number of the smaller Carrefour express stores on the island to nine by the end of 2009, in addition to the larger stores in all towns.

The express stores are in residential areas and have a shop space of 1200 to 2000 sq.m. The company already operates supermarkets within the Mall of Cyprus and Mall of Engomi, and has own-stores in Limassol, such as the flagship Columbia, from where the predecessor Chris Cash and Carry initially started.
