Wal-Mart: Are their groceries a bargain?
on November 8th, 2007 at 7:37 amOver the years, I have heard from many shoppers that they believe Wal-Mart has the lowest grocery prices. While there are hundreds of locations, unless you have a Wal-Mart Supercenter nearby, your savings may not justify the driving time and gas expense of shopping across town. As a one will be opening near my house in a few weeks, I decided to take a closer look.
In a nutshell, take your standard Wal-Mart store and wrap a grocery, pharmacy and (in some locales) auto center around it. In previous columns, I’ve written about Wal-Mart’s, and other outlets, generic drug offerings, which alone offers the smart shopper big savings.
In October, Wal-Mart announced that they would be lowering prices on 15,000 items, including apparel, electronics, food and other items. The Coupon Mom Web site has been tracking Wal-Mart’s grocery and personal care prices for the past few months, and I have noticed that the company’s prices on many grocery items are comparable to other supermarkets’ sale prices.
Strategic shoppers know that you can save money on groceries at any store, as long as you learn the store’s savings strategies and combine them. Remember: A store may have several savings strategies available, even if the store does not advertise or promote the policies. You may need to ask a manager questions or search the store’s Web site to find every available policy.
Wal-Mart’s unique savings strategies include:
• Wal-Mart claims that their goal is to have the lowest price on every item in their specific markets. If another store has a lower advertised price, Wal-Mart will match the competitor’s price if the shopper brings in proof of the lower price.
Wal-Mart does not produce a weekly advertising circular with all of their best grocery prices as most supermarkets do, so you may not know what Wal-Mart’s prices are for your items before you shop. Your best strategy would be to review the weekly advertising circulars for several grocery stores, note the lowest price for the items you need among all the circulars and take them to Wal-Mart. You will be able to take advantage of the best prices for all of your items without having to drive all over town.
• As I mentioned, the chain doesn’t double or triple grocery coupons, but they do accept manufacturers’ coupons at face value. Use Wal-Mart’s lowest price or price matching and save more with your coupons. Be sure to bring along your coupon organizer to the store to be able to find coupons for unadvertised clearance items, as well.
After reading this article, I just feel that I really need more information on the topic. Could you suggest some more resources ?

Interesting,
As a long time Walmart shopper, I use to think their prices were the lowest, but not until I found My Harvest America did I change my shopping pattern to mostly online. The prices are far less, not just a few cents, and to think I have my staple goods delivered to my home for free via FedEX saves me a 28 mile drive to my closest Walmart. My closest grocery store is over 10 miles, so this has been an unbelievable time saver as well.
What is the #1 consumable in the world? What is the largest expense a family must contend with in a household budget behind rent or mortgage payments? What does a family spend 30% of their gross income on?
Who doesn’t want to save money? Who doesn’t want to save time? Who doesn’t want to eliminate some hassle from their lives? And in a recession with unemployment over 10%, who doesn’t want to earn an unlimited extra income?
Who likes to sell or recruit? Who likes to spend hundreds of dollars to get started in their home based online business? Who likes to fail over and over again in the MLM industry? Who likes the most difficult reason for failure in MLM, attrition?
If these salient points do not hit you between the eyes, make you think about why you have yet to find success while all the so called guru’s are bombarding you with their get rich quick hype, then you are sadly beyond my help. So think long and hard before you decide, and when you do, you will make the same decision I have, to join My Harvest America and Organic Acres, the best recession proof businesses in history, you cannot possibly fail, why, because you will save more money than you spend every single month, and that will eliminate attrition.
OK, now that I have your full attention, watch the videos, take your time evaluating all the points I hit on above. When you see the money savings, the time savings and the hassle of wasting up to eight hours a month grocery shopping, you will be hooked as I am. I saved over $71.00 on my first order over Walmart which is my lowest price grocery store, although 28 miles from my home, I know my prices, and My Harvest America offers the lowest prices anywhere, even Sam’s Club or Costco, GUARANTEED or double your money back.
An unlimited income opportunity is an easy decision for everyone to make, why, because we don’t sell it, we tell it. No recruiting, no chasing friends and family, who doesn’t want to save money? Who doesn’t have to save money in these tough times? Everyon eats and everyone I know hates grocery shopping chore, wasting two hours on average on a Saturday. For apartment or city dwellers who have no parking, and have to lug groceries blocks, this is the answer. What about aging parents who no longer can drive? Simply put, everyone will be interested once they see the savings first hand, it is amazing, and with ten thousand name brand products, including organic and premium brands, most will find 90% of what they are already purchasing, so this is simply transfer buying, not selling.
